Description
Book Synopsis: Volume I contains an abstract of the actual sexton records of Westfall Cemetery which is located in Knox County, Illinois, near the town of Galesburg. These records show all of the burials from 1845 to the present, along with notations by the caretakers showing dates for birth and death, interrelationships between individual family members, and other special notes. The records show the Westfall family and all 145 related lines including many of the well known families of Knox county such as: Anderson, Arie, Baughman, Blackledge, Cherrington, Cockran, Crouch, Davis, Dawson, Eiker, Eldridge, England, Fields, Flynn, Gibbs, Godsil, Gothard, Haptonstall, Horkstrom, Johnson, King, Larson, Mitchell, Myrick, Newberg, Norburg, Patton, Rice, Sunberg, Swanson, Wagher, Warrensford, Westergreen and Wyman to name a few. The current cemetery lists show only 471 interments; however the author shows that there are actually 660 individuals buried there along with thirty-three reserved plots. This is the only true source for all burials in this cemetery. In addition to the cemetery list, Volume I contains maps and plot-by-plot layouts for all burials within the cemetery. This feature allows researchers to tie family groups together by their actual placement to next of kin. Also included are notes about the head stone condition and where husband and wife, or a family, share a head stone.
